Physical commodities are traded on special and dividend into different groups: energy, precious metals, industrial metals and agricultural products. Natural gas, fuel oil, crude oil and diesel are energy products. Precious metals are for example gold silver and platinum, base metals such as copper, aluminum or nickel. As physical commodities cannot be traded at Börse Frankfurt, investors can trade certificates based on commodities prices. Some of them are physically stored as Xetra-Gold. Deutsche Börse Commodities issues Xetra-Gold, a certificate based on gold. For each purchased share of Xetra-Gold one gram of gold is stored in a safe. It can be delivered on request to the owner. To hedge the price of an agricultural product such as wheat, soybeans, sugar or milk, producers buy a certificate, an option or a future at present wheres the delivery of the product is in the future. Commodity prices can be monitored online. On boerse-frankfurt.de you find prices of almost all commodities. In addition to these current commodity prices, tops/flops and commodity news are available on the market overview for commodities.
